Dr Mia Jing Gao MBBS MA (Cantab) MRCP is a Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal Free Hospital in London, where she leads the Skin Cancer service. She’s passionate about providing expert, compassionate care and takes pride in supporting her patients through every step of their skin health journey.

Mia grew up in Scotland and went on to study medicine at the University of Cambridge, earning a Master’s degree in Physiology and Development. She completed her clinical training at University College London, graduating with distinction and receiving multiple academic awards. She was ranked second nationally for entry into dermatology training, which she completed at some of the top centres in central London.

Her clinical interests include the early detection of skin cancer, skin surgery, acne, hair and scalp conditions, and common skin concerns like eczema, psoriasis, and pigmentation disorders. As the Lead for the Specialist Skin Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team, Mia works closely with patients and colleagues to ensure the highest quality care.

With hundreds of hours of surgical experience, Mia is a skilled dermatological surgeon known for her precision and thoughtful approach. She regularly performs cryotherapy, biopsies, cautery, curettage, and excisions, as well as the removal of benign skin lesions such as cysts, warts, and skin tags.

Outside of her work, Mia is a mum to her young son and cherishes family time, good food, and seeing the world with her loved ones.
